WHAT IS CRAIG MORRISON STUDIO?

Craig Morrison is a designer, artist and curator with work held in the permanent collection at The Science Museum and The Victoria & Albert Museum in London. He soared to critical acclaim through his spike rubber designs in the late 1980’s, with press coverage in Vogue, i-D Magazine, Elle Design and MTV. Made entirely in the United Kingdom since conception, his work is an iconic example of heritage design made locally. Today, he is still the Lead Designer of all pieces produced by Craig Morrison Studio.

Leia Morrison and Hattie Morrison, his two daughters and now Creative Directors of Craig Morrison Studio, are relaunching as the second generation of brand leaders. Leia Morrison is the studio photographer, shooting campaigns in traditional analogue format. She is also head of PR, curator of all digital marketing and designer of our website. Hattie Morrison focuses on styling within shoots, video content for social media and general studio communications.

The immensely talented Heidi Riebschlager is our Studio Tailor, who worked alongside Craig Morrison and was the original first generation seamstress at the studio in the late 1990’s. She has passed on her knowledge to our second generation studio artisan; Ebba Riebschlager - our Studio Embroidery Artist.

With Craig Morrison, they have created the 2024 Launch Collection; a group of couture jackets and bags with custom embroidery, alongside archival classics from the original collections of the 90’s and millennium.

STUDIO STATEMENT

While this studio is a studio of artists, it is also a studio of relatives and collaborators. Craig Morrison works with and inspires us – his two daughters Leia and Hattie. Our Studio Tailor Heidi works alongside her daughter Ebba, our Studio Embroidery Artist. Our makeup artist Megan Raine works with her sister and our muse Alice Raine, experimenting with new looks for each and every shoot. It is a studio that works on the principle of collaboration and generation – the generation of artists, and the regeneration of ideas.

When it’s sunny, we stand outside of our studio in Wales to talk about our ideas – about fabrics and fastenings and faces to work with. When we run out of time after a busy week, we stay up late to take photos in the studio, then impatiently wait for the film rolls to be developed, and edited, and shared.

We all work together to bring Craig Morrison’s iconic work to the people who value it dearly – to those of you who were there, underground, in those sweaty London clubs in the 90’s, and those of you who are here now, with us, hearing stories about those nights and making new ones too, with your own bags on your backs and your own chokers around your necks and your own energy. You all have such energy. We love how alive you all are, how much you care about what we do. It makes us even more excited to do what we’re doing.

The launch of Craig Morrison Studio this year gets to you after three decades of hard work and two generations of passion. We have loved every minute of working on this collection, and we can’t wait to see how you work them into your own lives.
